Burnett has guided the Victoria Road side into 12th position ahead of today’s game against Northampton Town, while many were expecting another season of struggle for the Daggers.

But Cobblers boss Chris Wilder has been quick to follow in Chesterfield’s praise for the 42-year-old Daggers manager ahead of the match against the Cobblers later on today, claiming Burnett is the ‘stand-out manager of the season’.

“I know Wayne Burnett really well, he’s a really good guy and he will pick a side with the intention of winning the game,” Wilder told the Northampton Chronicle & Echo.

“They won’t be a gimme; he will have his own career to think about and so will some of the players in the side, they’ll be playing for contracts.

“They will be thinking that if they can get six points from their last two games then that will take them into the top 10, which would be a fantastic achievement.

“There are teams in this division that have spent a lot of money, when you think about the likes of Fleetwood, Chesterfield and Scunthorpe, who all have big budgets.

“Dagenham are always restricted in terms of their budget and Wayne always gets the best out of his teams - for me he’s the stand-out manager of the season.”
