Dagenham & Redbridge interim manager Wayne Burnett wants to pick up his first home points against Torquay United tonight.

Daggers interim boss Wayne Burnett is hoping his first win at the weekend can give his squad the confidence to come out tonight against Torquay and dominate from the off.

They face a Gulls side who are currently third from bottom and on a run of just one win in their last 10 games going into the match but Burnett is not underestimating the threat they pose.

“It’s going to be a tough game, Torquay are fighting for their lives and they didn’t have the best of results on Saturday, getting beat 3-1 at home by Oxford, so we’ve had a look at them and it’s going to be a tough,” said Burnett.

But confidence in the camp is high after the victory at Rotherham and Burnett is keen to get off and running with his first home points since taking over until the end of the season.

“We had a fantastic result on Saturday, not the result we were looking for the previous weekend against Chesterfield, my first home game, we were all bitterly disappointed,” he added.

“I actually think the lads were trying too hard that Saturday. But the win at Rotherham was much needed and it gets everyone in high spirits.”

Whether Josh Scott can play two games in the space of four days remains to be seen, but fellow striker Sam Williams is a major doubt after pulling up in training last week with a knee problem.

Daggers were waiting to see the results of a scan to determine how long he is out for but other than that Burnett has an injury free squad ahead of tonight’s clash at Victoria Road.

Earlier in the day striker Brian Woodall made a one-month loan switch to Conference North side Bishop’s Stortford.
