Striker Brian Woodall has been linked with a move away from Victoria Road but would be happy to stay on

Brian Woodall rounded off a dream debut season as a professional with a hat-trick against Bristol Rovers and insists he will be happy to remain a Dagger next season – despite being linked with a move to the Championship.

Woodall, who picked up the third-place trophy in the club’s Player of the Season awards, has been linked with Derby County, Peterborough United and Nottingham Forest in recent weeks.

And while the summer is likely to be filled with talk about a career elsewhere the striker is happy to keep scoring goals for Dagenham & Redbridge.

“I’d love to stay here, it’s a good club and John Still is a great manager,” said Woodall.

“It was a great season for me, but next season will be better.”

Having made the summer move from Midland Football Alliance side Gresley, Woodall took a while to find his feet in east London and 15 matches to find the net.

But since opening his account in an FA Cup first-round tie with Bath City the 24-year-old has been prolific and Saturday’s treble took him to 13 for the campaign.

And Woodall admits the last 12 months have been a whirlwind.

“This time last year I was working in a warehouse, driving a forklift truck and getting up at 5am – now I’m playing football,” he said.

“It was a big step up from Gresley. I didn’t really expect this. I was struggling to get my first goal at the start of the season, but I’ve done alright since then.

“I’d only scored one goal in games before Saturday and my dad’s always saying ‘get a second goal’ – now I’ve scored a hat-trick, it’s a good feeling.”
