Brentford full back Scott Barron would love the opportunity to put his skills against Chelsea counterpart Ashley Cole.

The 27-year-old is one of three candidates to replace the suspended Jake Bidwell, who was sent off against Leyton Orient for two bookable offences, along with Tony Craig and Lee Hodson.

But the full back is the most likely choice with Craig having formed an excellent partnership with Harlee Dean and Hodson being right footed.

And should he play, Barron is keen to pit himself against Chelsea and England full back Cole.

“Ashley Cole is someone you look up to as a left back through your career,” he said.

“He’s probably the best left back in the Premier League and has been for a long time.

“As for forward players, they’ve got too many attacking players to even mention.”

Barron believes that Brentford will know all about Chelsea given the wall-to-wall coverage of Premier League football.

“We know all about Chelsea,” he said. “I’ve watched them many times. They’re a world class team, they’re European champions.

“They’ll be the best team we’ve had down here. The pressure is on the biggest team.

“It’s easy to say that you can relax. The pressure will be on them. We can enjoy it as a team.

“I think you’re only happy you can win. I’ll take scoring one and them scoring none.”

The 27-year-old has experience of facing Premier League sides after coming up against Bolton during his time with Millwall last season.

“I played against Bolton and we lost 2-0,” he explained. “I’ve never played against a team as big as Chelsea.

“I’ve played some big FA Cup games and it’s a one-off game. I’m quite far in my career but it’s a special game for me.

“Griffin Park has a good atmosphere – it was excellent on Saturday and even the Cup game against Southend. I’m pretty sure they’ll recreate that.”
