Frew fumes after Great Yarmouth defeat
Barkingside boss Matt Frew accused his players of “a lack of commitment, concentration and communication” following their FA Cup exit to Great Yarmouth Town this week.
The Sky Blues followed up Saturday’s 1-1 home draw with a 3-0 defeat in the replay at Yarmouth on Tuesday evening.
And their manager refused to mince his words after two performances he believes were a massive disappointment.
Frew said: “These two FA Cup matches have been the worst games I’ve experienced as a manager.
“We only played well for the opening 20 minutes of the first game and it was the same in the replay.
“We then conceded a goal against the run of play and it knocked the stuffing out of us.
“There was a lack of commitment, concentration and communication.
“I won’t reveal what was said in the dressing room after the game, but I let the boys know that their performance was not acceptable.”
In Saturday’s extra-preliminary round tie against Yarmouth, Richard Oxby salvaged a replay in the second half when he wiped out the visitors’ 19th-minute opener by Mitch Forbes.
And Forbes proved the danger-man again on Tuesday when he opened the scoring in the 20th minute and struck twice late on to secure his hat-trick and seal the result.
