Transfer news: Arsenal are not giving up on a deal to bring West Ham United midfielder Mohamed Diame to the Emirates Stadium but manager Arsene Wenger admitted he will not be too concerned if there are no new signings today.
The Frencham also maintained any talk of a deadline move for Barcelona forward David Villa was dead in the water.
On prospects of a hectic final few hours of the transfer window and a swoop for the Hammers ace, also being tracked by Tottenham, the Gunners boss said: “I cannot promise that. We will work on it.”
After saying last week that he thought the January window should be scrapped Wenger joked last night, saying: “We will ask for an official extension of the transfer window, now for one week maybe.”
