Transfer news: The Robin van Persie saga has taken a new twist

Former Manchester City player Patrick Vieira has confirmed that the Premier League champions are interested in Arsenal star Robin van Persie.

The Dutchman is out of contract next year and his announcement that he is not going to sign a new deal has alerted Manchester United and Juventus as well as the Citizens.

“When there’s a player like Van Persie, with only one year of contract, all the big clubs try to buy him,” the Frenchman said.

“Juventus, Manchester United and even City because (City manager Roberto) Mancini likes him so much.

“Currently, though, Van Persie is an Arsenal player.”
