Wojciech Szczesny hopes the appointment of Steve Bould will improve the side
Arsenal star Wojciech Szczesny has hailed the new Gunners assistant Steve Bould.
The former defender for the north London side has been promoted in the wake of Pat Rice’s retirement and the Polish stopper hopes fewer goals will be conceded as a result.
“We have a new assistant manager in Steve Bould and he has been doing a lot of defensive work on the training pitch, which has been very good so far I believe, so hopefully we will concede less as well, which is my personal hope anyway,” he said on the club’s official website.
The north London giants conceded 49 goals last season and Szczesny knows that his side need to improve.
“We didn’t have a lot of luck with injuries to defenders last season. Hopefully this year we can have a settled back four, a strong bench as well, and concede less goals,” said the Poland international.
“As I said, with the work Steve Bould has been doing so far, it’s looking positive.”
