A shot at becoming king of the jungle is something that appeals to Ronnie O’Sullivan after becoming engrossed with ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!’

The five-time UK champion produced five half-century breaks to cruise past world no.73 Michael Georgiou 6-1 in the second round of the tournament in York.

But away from the baize, the Romford potter is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Steve Davis and Jimmy White in appearing in the reality television show.

He said: “I was looking at ‘I’m a Celeb’ and I was thinking ‘wow I’ve got to have a go at that’. It looks like they’re having so much fun in there and a chance to go to Australia and get a nice little holiday too.

“I’m starting to come round to the idea of it and if the price is right, as Brucey [Bruce Forsyth] said, then count me in.

“Amir [Khan] has been fantastic and Dennis [Wise] has been great as well. I think they’ve all be fantastic.

“It’s up to my agent of course. I’m just out there to do as much as I can. I get approached to do these shows and if a good opportunity comes up I’d like to do stuff.”

The five-time world champion reached the final of the Betway UK Championship last season and despite dropping just four frames so far this time around, he admits he hasn’t been at his best.

He added: “I think I was there for the taking but he [Georgiou] had to play better than he did to win.

“I’m happy to be through and I’m happy to have another opportunity to play another match in this great tournament.

“I think Michael can play better than that. I was a little bit surprised at how he struggled.

“I don’t really analyse the tournament to be honest. I try not to get too involved and think too much about it. I just try to switch on and play my game.”

Elsewhere, Mark King almost produced the tournament’s first 147 break as he defeated Mike Dunn 6-4.

The Romford cueman was well on his way to scooping £15,000 with a maximum break but a poor positional shot on the blue ball left him with too much to do on the pink.

King was able to put the disappointment behind him though and produced two half-century breaks to progress to the third round of the competition for the first time in 12 years.
