Woodford under-14s 31 Stevenage 37
Woodford under-14s just ended up on the wrong side of a 12-try game after a fine battle against Stevenage on Sunday.
The hosts started on top and Woodford stormed ahead when Henry Sharland ended the move to score and Alex Marks kicked the conversion.
Stevenage clawed five points back almost immediately, though.
Toby Harrison and Euan Fay combined in the second row to power the play forward with the former going over for an unconverted try.
Jed West had been held up short, but managed to find Taylor Wilkins who touched down to put Woodford in full control at 17-5.
Stevenage changed tactics and the visitors scored two tries in quick succession to level the scores at 17-17 at the end of the half.
An early effort saw the visitors move in front but Woodford regained the lead when West profited from a spilt ball and Marks once more converted.
Anthony Hamilton jinked his way over for another with Marks adding the extras to move them 31-22 ahead.
But the hosts went off the boil late on and shipped three tries as Stevenage ran out 37-31 winners.
