Wonderful Woodford pulled off a superb victory at local rivals Chingford.
They won 29-27 against a team who had previously lost only one home game in London One North this season.
It is now two wins on the bounce for Woodford – after only two victories before Christmas – and moves them up to 11th in the table.
Coach Andy Murphy was delighted with the display, and thinks his players coped with the conditions better than their opponents.
“It’s a great result,” Murphy said.
“The weather came into it and we coped with the conditions better.
“The forwards earned the victory and the players are really up for it, hopefully we can carry this form on for the rest of the season - there can be no excuses.”
They are set to play host to Romford & Gidea Park on Saturday.
Woodford seconds won for just the third time this season, with a hard-fought victory over Eton Manor.
They squeezed home 18-17, and the success lifted them above Braintree towards the bottom of the table.
Woodford are now second bottom of the Shepherd Neame Essex Merit Division One table, ahead of a home clash with Romford.
In keeping with a fine set of results last weekend, Woodford’s thirds earned a narrow victory at Chingford in a low-scoring encounter.
They won 8-7 to maintain their comfortable 13-point lead at the top of Essex Merit Division Three table.
Next up is a home match with struggling Thurrock.
