Redfern says there is more to come from Woodford after maintaining perfect start

Highams club remain sitting pretty at the top of the standings after home victory

Tom Redfern says there is still more to come from Woodford despite continuing their perfect start to the London Two North East term with a 47-19 win at home to Ipswich.

The Highams club were in fine attacking form on Saturday, with Matt Farrington, Peter Hyett and James Baxandall among those to cross in the success.

Victory ensured Woodford remain the only side in the division to have taken the maximum five points on offer in each game so far this term.

And head coach Redfern was happy to see the Highams club continue their brilliant start to the campaign.

“It was another good performance. Ipswich may feel the scoreline flatted us because we got a few tries late on, but it showed that we were physically stronger,” he said.

“We conceded the opening try through a handling error, but it was good to see the reaction from the players to that.

“There was lots of energy and enthusiasm in the performance, but there is still lots to work on and the boys spoke about that after the game.”
