Highams club triumphed 27-20 on the road on Saturday

Tom Redfern was pleased Woodford created club history with a 27-20 success at Cantabrigians in London Two North East.

The Highams club maintained their perfect record this term thanks to five tries on the road, two of which came from Matt Farrington.

With Saffron Walden losing against Ipswich, Woodford were able to stretch their lead at the top of the table to six points.

And head coach Redfern also revealed the win on Saturday was an historic moment for the Highams club.

“It’s the first time we’ve every won at Cantabrigians, so it was nice to finally end that wait,” he said.

“It was a tough game and they asked questions of us, so we were pleased to come away with a bonus-point win.

“It wasn’t our best display and we know there is plenty to work on, but we were pleased that the team found a way to get over the line and win.”
