Wanstead Colts under-18s edged to a 17-12 victory against Old Dartfordians in a friendly.

The Colts continued their strong start to the season by picking up their third victory in their opening four matches of the season.

In a very competitive match Dartfordians were first to break away and score but unconverted.

Wanstead with good ball handling and running responded with Luke Exley crashing over the try line and Alex Bakewell converting to make it 7-5 to Wanstead.

With the rugby flowing end to end Wanstead managed another try when forwards and backs combined to send Gabriel Weeden over for a try to make it 12-5 going into half-time.

Second half both teams were threatening to score but Wanstead full back Emillio Vrahimi with a searing run, shook off various tackles ran half the pitch to score in the corner to make it 17-5.

Wanstead rucked well and Harry Gipson fed the backs with plenty of quick balls

Old Dartfordians piled on the pressure in the final twenty minutes and scored another to try to bring the scoreline down to 17-12.

The restart brought another attack from Dartfordians back row Andre Eversley tackling anything that moved.

Vrahimi saved the day for his Wanstead side as he made a fantastic try saving tackle in the dying stages to earn them the victory.

Wanstead: Alex Bakewell, Chris Ainsworth, Rory Thomas, Ben Wong, Luke Exley, James Earl, Eoin O’Driscoll, Emillio Vrahimi, Tiernan Mcmahon, Daniel Moran.
