Woodford put their London Two North East campaign on hold this week when they visit Chelmsford in the second round of the RFU Intermediate Cup.

The Highams club hope knockout rugby will prove a welcome distraction, having lost their last five in the league.

Last weekend, Tom Redfern’s men suffered a 56-12 home defeat at the hands of Sudbury.

It was a result which kept Woodford second from bottom in the league, having won just once in the division this term.

The only team below the Highams club happens to be Chelmsford, who are also the only side Redfern’s charges have beaten this term.

The Woodford coach will hope both of those statistics point towards a win for his side on Saturday when they make the trip to Chelmsford in the cup.

And any success would be a welcome boost for the Highams club ahead of their return to league action, which comes away to Ipswich on November 25.
