Highams club were beaten on their trip to league leaders on Saturday

Woodford head coach Tom Redfern admits Rochford are the best team his side have faced so far this term after losing 43-7 away to the London Two North East leaders.

Despite the margin of victory, Woodford turned in a spirited display at Rochford, restricting their hosts to their lowest tally at home this term.

The Highams club also scored a try, with hooker William Cooper-Rendu crossing and Redfern adding the extras from the tee.

But Redfern openly says that Rochford were the toughest team they have faced this term.

“Rochford are the best team that we’ve played so far this season,” said Redfern.

“They are a quality side and they’re two locks and their loosehead prop in particular were superb.

“Their lineout was very strong and very efficient, which meant they stole a few of ours as well as taking theirs.”

Woodford will hope to rebound in the league on Saturday when they welcome Harlow to the Highams as the hosts bid for just their second league win of the campaign.
