London Two North East: Old Cooperians 20 Woodford 24

Woodford ended 2017 on a high after winning 24-20 at Old Cooperians in London Two North East.

Prior to their trip to Upminster, the Highams club had lost each of their last seven matches in the league.

It was a run of poor form that had seen Woodford drop to last place ahead of the trip to Coops.

However, the Highams club were able to haul themselves off the foot of the table in time for Christmas with the victory.

Woodford will hope the momentum of that win into their next game, though will have to wait until January 6 for that.

The Highams club begin 2018 with a home game against Norwich, and Tom Redfern will hope to start the new calendar year in style.

With Woodford just one point above the bottom two, it looks like they are embroiled in a battle to avoid the drop this term.

However, a couple of wins early on when they return in 2018 should help them move clear of trouble.
