Essex Under-18s Division One: Wanstead 41 Old Brentwoods 5

Two tries from Luke Exley helped Wanstead colts canter to a 41-5 success at home to Old Brentwoods.

The Herons scored early in the game with Eoin O’Driscoll finishing off a backs move, before the hosts continued to press, with Exley crossing for his first of the match.

Old Brentwood responded, though, and the game ebbed and flowed, with end-to-end action for those watching.

Wanstead hit back with the final score of the half through Harry Gipson to lead 19-5 at the break.

Old Brentwoods struggled in the second half playing with 14 men and the Herons took advantage, with Gabriel Weedon touching down.

Further tries followed from Ewan Norton, Ben Wong and Emilio Vrahimi as Wanstead took charge of the match.

Exley then rounded out the scoring with his second try of the match to cap a fine win for the young Herons.

Wanstead: Vrahimi, Wong, O’Driscoll, Norton, Gipson, Weeden, McMahon, Exley, Beck, Remias, Chukwudiere, Bakewell, Earl, Moran, Shepherd, Greech.
