Three father-and-son pairings turned out for Wanderers in same game at the weekend

Ilford Wanderers’ reputation as a family club was on show in the third team last weekend as three family pairs turned out against East London.

George Cook Sr. and George Jr., Jim and Josh O’Neill and stalwart Dave Dutch and son Cameron all played their part in a deserved win.

The first team, meanwhile, have another weekend off Essex 1B action, with the league season taking a break for various cup competitions.

Wanderers were last in action back on November 4 when they thumped Pegasus Palmerians 90-10 at home.

However, with their next match at Dagenham on November 25, it means Ilford will have been without a competitive match for three weeks.

Despite the gap in league matches, Wanderers remain joint-top, with only points difference separating them and Kings Cross Steelers, who are currently at the summit. When they do return to action, Ilford will hope to avoid any signs of ring rust.
