London One North: Eton Manor 46 Romford & Gidea Park 0

Eton Manor head coach Jamie Connors was extremely happy with their weekend win over Romford & Gidea Park in London One North.

The hosts ran in eight tries at The New Wilderness to secure themselves an emphatic victory that keeps them on the coat tails of leaders Colchester.

Alex Hunter and Garth Tucker both scored a brace of tries, whilst Reece Reed, Pete Bicknell, Nick Cooper-Hicks and Callum McKie also got in on the act.

Connors said: “We didn’t have to wait long for the bonus point try so that was good.

“The guys were really hungry and we were three or four tries up after 15 minutes and that helped everyone relax because you can get anxious when you are trying to get the bonus point.

“All in all I was really happy with the performance.”

The win was Manor’s 19th of the season out of 20 and takes them up to 91 points for the campaign.

They were without the talented Michael Eghan against Park, but Connors found a more than adequate replacement in Hunter.

He praised the performance of the right wing, who has missed large chunks of the season through injury.

“Alex has done really well actually. He has been injured for most of the season,” revealed Connors.

“He played against Chingford in October and then got injured in training and he came back for one game and got injured again so that is why we haven’t heard much about him.

“But he was in the team for the previous two seasons so he is an important player and he is back from injury now.

“I am hoping he can carry on this form. He replaced ‘Micky’ on the right wing on Saturday, as he was away for the weekend, and it didn’t stop us scoring so that was pleasing.”
