The London One North club will do battle with a Royal Marines XV on Saturday while a vets fixture will also take place

While many will be watching the Royal Wedding or the FA Cup final between Manchester United and Chelsea on Saturday, local rugby fans can enjoy some more of the sport at Eton Manor.

The New Wilderness club are hosting two Royal Marines teams and putting on a music festival later in the evening.

Jamie Connors’ first-team will take on their Marines counterparts at 2pm while a Manor vets side will take on some Marines’ vets on the same day.

After missing the event last year, Connors is set to be present for this Saturday’s game and looking forward to seeing one final rugby match at the New Wilderness before the artificial grass pitch installation is complete.

He said: “We did it for the first time last year and I wasn’t there, but by all accounts it was a really good day and I’ll be there for this one.

“It is a shame the new pitch won’t be ready in time, I think it will miss it by a week or two, but it is great for the club to have an occasion like this.

“After that we have our summer ball in June, so we have a couple of things to look forward to despite the league season being over.”
