Barking players got the chance to play with England winger Chris Ashton during the Maximuscle Touch Rugby event on the hallowed turf of Twickenham on Friday
Laure Osunsami helped set up the chance and first team coach Eddie Ambrose believes it was an occasion the players can savour.
He said: “I’ve heard a few stories about a Chris Ashton interception try, but it’s great for the players to have the opportunity. You don’t often get the chance to play at Twickenham and the boys loved it.
“I’m fortunate enough to have played there with Barking in the National Two champions of champions match against Macclesfield a few years ago, but Friday was something the boys will remember for the rest of their lives.”
The team continued their build-up to the National Three South East season at Campion’s 15-a-side memorial tournament.
And Ambrose was happy with their display, adding: “It was a small memorial tournament against three others, but the boys did really well. The defence was particularly impressive as we kept it solid and only conceded one try in the final match.
“I was pleased with how it went, the boys worked really hard and that gives us something to build on. There’s plenty to fine tune though.”
Barking host Blackheath seconds in their last friendly on Friday, before hosting Hertford on September 7.
