Heart of Oak Judo Club’s Peach James struck gold at the London Youth Games competition held at Crystal Palace over the weekend.

James defeated three other opponents in her category to come away with the top prize, while club-mates Malik Forbes and Amir Ahmed also competed.

Forbes had to fight off five tough opponents to earn a well-deserved bronze medal, while Ahmed fought well throughout the day and was unfortunate not to come away with a medal.

Members from Redbridge Judo Club were also in action at the event.

Thomas Drayton competed at under-46kg and came back with silver, while Barry Turi added a bronze in the under-55kg.

Sam Tully picked up wins in two of his fights and was unfortunate not to medal in the under-46kg section.
