Hockey side fall to 2-1 defeat against Brentwood
Redbridge & Ilford men’s first team couldn’t find their form before the Christmas break, losing 2-1 to Brentwood at the weekend.
Nick Shade provided the only Reds goal as they look to improve before the second half of the season begins on January 19.
But the second team carried on a brilliant run of form with an emphatic 14-0 rout over Old De Ferrians.
Steve Radley, Sunny Rehal and Ajay Singh all bagged hat-tricks with Harj Rai, Jis Mangat, Konrad Kowalski and Neil Cunningham each getting a goal as well.
However, the men’s third team fell 3-0 away to Wapping sevens, while the Academy team lost out 9-0 to Wapping eighths.
■ It was a close encounter for the ladies’ first team as they narrowly lost out 3-2 to Old Loughtonians.
Both teams are now on the same number of points at the summit of the Essex Premier Division.
The scorers for the Reds were Jen Pearce and Caroline Huxley.
There was joy for the second team as they won 2-1 at Colne HC with goals from Alexis Miller and Meenal Kansangra.
But the thirds lost out 1-0 in a well-contested match to Southend.
The women have one extra week before their Christmas break begins.
