Bancroft’s School join Coopers Coborn in representing County.
Bancroft’s School girls’ under-16s booked their place in the East Regional rounds of the national competition after finishing runners-up on goal difference in the Essex tournament last week.
The Bancroft girls and Coopers’ Coburn, who narrowly beat them in the competition that took place last Tuesday, will now both represent Essex in the regionals that take place in East Holkham on November 20.
“This is one of the strongest school teams I have seen – several of the girls are making their way up the England hockey ladder,” Bancroft coach Danni Haynes said. “There were some superb individual performances and I would say Monika Johal was the player of the tournament. “However, all the Bancroft’s girls played well, really supporting each other as a team and digging in when necessary. They were absolutely shattered by the end. This was a day of high intensity hockey.”
Bancroft’s opening game was a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Coopers’ Coburn which was followed by the 6-0 demolition of Chigwell. A 4-0 victory over Brentwood and 3-0 against New Hall was followed by a 2-1 win against Felstead.
Squad: Olivia Flaherty (GK), Joy Coburn, Monika Patel, Rebecca Hague, Charlotte Carver, Ella Day, Catherine Hough, Evie Foster, Chloe Joarder, Hannah Sydenham, Georgina Stevens, Liz Austin, Lizzie Wrobleski, Annabel Smith. Coach: Danni Haynes
