West Ham’s two new signings Mauro Zarate and Cheikhou Kouyate were introduced to the rest of the squad on the first day of pre-season training yesterday (Thursday) and skipper Kevin Nolan is keen for the new boys to bond into the team as soon as possible.

“I have only seen a bit of what Mauro has done in the past and I haven’t seen much of him in training because it was very light today,” said the captain.

“We will see more of him and Cheikhou in the next week when we are out in France so I will be able to give you the lowdown when I come back.”

He continued: “They both seem like lovely lads. They don’t speak much English, but I’ll get my scouse on them as soon as I can and teach them all the cockney slang so that will be quite good.

“I’m looking forward to getting to know them over the next week and I’m certainly expecting more players to walk through the door before August 16.”
