West Ham have signed Ecuador striker Enner Valencia for a fee believed to be around £12million, subject to a work permit.

The 24-year-old joins Cheikhou Kouyate, Mauro Zarate, Diego Poyet and Aaron Cresswell as news signings for the Hammers as their summer spend breaks past the £20million barrier, just as it did this time last year.

Co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan are certainly backing boss Sam Allardyce as he hopes to add more attacking flair to his squad after a dismal season last time out.

Valencia enjoyed a fine summer, notching three times at the World Cup after scoring against England in a pre-tournament warm up game.

The Hammers were reliant on two-goal Andy Carroll last season and so the added competition from Zarate and Valencia is exactly what fans were after.
