Hammers manager is looking for goals from the Portuguese marksman
Hammers manager Sam Allardyce is looking for Ricardo Vaz Te to step up to the plate and help score the goals that West Ham need for a good Premier League season.
The 27-year-old Portuguese marksman scored the goal that put the Hammers back into the top flight with a late winner in the play-off final at Wembley against Blackpool, but now Allardyce wants to see him do it in the Premier League.
“We know what Carlton Cole can do, he scored quite a few goals last year and did a fantastic job for us and we hope he can do the same again, but we also have Ricardo Vaz Te back again,” said the West Ham manager.
“He is a goalscorer – a proven goalscorer. He had a long spell out last year with a dislocated shoulder, so I think he has something to prove this year as well.”
In a campaign blighted by injury, Vaz Te scored a fine rate of four goals in 10 appearances in claret and blue and he will be looking for a bigger chance to prove himself this time round.
“Going into the new season, can Ricardo be a force in the Premier League as he was in the Championship? Can he score a few more goals?” said Allardyce.
Perhaps we are about to find out.
