The latest results from games involving Sporting Bengal United, Redbridge and Clapton on Tuesday night

Jay Knight scored his first goals for Sporting Bengal United to help them return to winning ways in the Essex Senior League last night at St Margaretsbury.

After losing four games in a row, to Walthamstow, Enfield Borough, Woodford Town and Stansted, Imrul Gazi’s men hit back in style at the Recreation Ground.

Knight, formerly of Redbridge and Clapton, struck after just 10 minutes for Bengal, but the hosts equalised through Charncey Dash.

St Margaretsbury enjoyed the better of the openings during the rest of the half and yet it remained level until the break.

After the restart it turned into the Knight show, although team-mate Steve Carvell also played a big part in the away win.

Recent signing Knight put Bengal 2-1 up before David Vaughan appeared to wrap up the points with the visitors third.

There was still time for Knight to complete his hat-trick too when he tapped home after a Carvell shot had been saved.

It handed Gazi’s men an excellent 4-1 success, which moves them up to 15th with plenty of games in hand on clubs in and around them.

*It was not such good news for Redbridge, who suffered a 3-0 loss at home to local rivals Walthamstow last night.

The visitors opened the scoring after 13 minutes when ex-Barking forward Billy Jones found the net at Oakside.

Walthamstow crucially grabbed their second just before half time when Junior Appiah scored in the 42nd minute.

And the points were secured by the away side with 21 minutes left as James Peagram grabbed a goal to inflict a third league loss of the season on 13th-placed Redbridge.

**Clapton exited the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy after a disastrous end to their home clash with Enfield last night.

Ryan Reed’s stunner had put Jonny Fowell’s men in front and approached the closing stages of the tie they were heading through.

Enfield eventually found a reply, however, and levelled with quarter of an hour left as Ayo Odukaya found the net.

It was 2-1 to the north Londoners three minutes later as Jacob Dixon scored to turn the clash on its head.

Visiting Enfield then secured their spot in the next round Odukoya scored a second in the 80th minute to cap a disappointing night for the Tons.
