Redbridge will return to Essex Senior League action this weekend as they look to start climbing the table after a mixed start to the new campaign.

The Motormen will travel away to Southend Manor on Saturday as they look to build on their BBC Essex Senior Cup victory in mid-week.

Ricky Eaton’s side currently sit 13th in the table after five matches, with one win, three draws and one loss but will be keen to start putting a winning run together.

They will be full of confidence after grabbing a late goal to win 3-2 at Stansted and seal their progress in the BBC Essex Senior Cup.

The Motormen will now take their place in the hat for the third round of the cup competition after just getting through their second round tie at Hargrave Park.

Goals from Vinny Murphy, Michael Ogboin and a late 89th minute winner from Bryan Kyungu cancelled out a Callum Ibe double for Stansted.

Ibe netted an early goal for the Aiportmen after making a run at the defence and unleashing a fierce shot that beat the Redbridge keeper Lewis Greene.

The Motormen soon levelled the score thanks to Vinny Murphy who curled a free-kick into the top corner of the net.

Ibe then netted his second of the match just before half-time to give the hosts a 2-1 lead going into the break.

The visitor’s striker Ogboin levelled it for Redbridge two minutes into the second half as he found the back of the net.

Then with a minute left to play midfielder Kyungu scrambled the ball home from close range.

Although, they’ll be keen to put their last league match behind them, after falling to a heavy 4-1 defeat to their local rivals Ilford last weekend.

A brace from Yemi Adelani and solo efforts from Jamal Dzotsi and Yasseir Nazor sealed the three points for the Foxes and helped them continue their impressive start to the season at the Oakside Stadium.

It also put an end to the Motormen’s unbeaten start to the season.

Redbridge will also travel to Cockfosters for a London Senior Cup match on Tuesday.
