Melbourne Sports saw their three-game winning streak in the Essex Alliance League brought to an end as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Three Colts last weekend.

Mels were thwarted by a late goal in each half, as the Buckhust Hill side ran away with three points that takes them above Mels in the table.

Tom Curtin broke the deadlock in the 21st minute as he sailed a shot past the keeper after being picked out by John Shubert on the edge of the box to make it 1-0.

But seconds before the break, Mels failed to clear the ball properly and from a right-wing cross a Colts player volleyed home from six yards to level the game.

It looked as though it would end in a 1-1 draw, but in the 90th minute, a Colts striker hit a speculative shot from nearly 30 yards yards that caught Jordan Ogles off-guard and he could only palm the ball into the net.

Melbourne Sports: Ogles, Williamson, Alder, R Lincoln, Green, Stapleton, White, S Lincoln, Curtin, Howison, Shubert, Ladeatte.
