Leyton Orient midfielder Romain Vincelot would like nothing more than boss Russell Slade to stay at the club.

The bookies continue to have the O’s boss as favourite to take the vacant managerial position at Championship side Cardiff City despite Orient rebuffing the Bluebirds three attempts to speak to Slade so far.

The Frenchman is keen for the boss who brought him to Brisbane Road from Brighton to stay at the helm, and admits it’s business as usual on the training ground despite the continued speculation.

“I want him to stay here,” said Vincelot. “I think there are a lot of things going on. As a player I just want to play the game and have a good manager with us.

“Obviously he’s done a really good job so I wish he is going to stay with us.

“I think when you are a professional footballer you are used to the speculation. There are always rumours about player transfers and managers. When you are in the business for a while you just decide you can discuss it a bit before training or game but then it doesn’t affect anything because it has always been like that.

“When he comes in we just speak about the game so if there is something else, it’s not our business.

“He as a professional just comes in and does the job, so from the inside we have no information.

“As a player, your job is to be good on the pitch. It’s business as usual.”
