What type of team and formation will Ross Embleton and Dean Brill pick this afternoon?

All eyes will be on Ross Embleton and Dean Brill today when they take charge of Leyton Orient for the visit of National League leaders Dover Athletic.

Steve Davis was sacked on Tuesday morning after just four months as O’s head coach following a run of 11 league games without a win.

Embleton and Brill will once again be without Charlie Lee (ACL), George Elokobi (hamstring) and Josh Coulson (groin), but should have a virtually fully fit squad to pick from otherwise.

Macauley Bonne is available for Orient again after missing the 2-1 defeat at Ebbsfleet United last weekend because he was on international duty with Zimbabwe, yet it is hard to know what the interim managers will do.

Davis has favoured a 3-5-2/5-3-2 formation in recent weeks, but Embleton and Brill will most likely have their own ideas ahead of facing Chris Kinnear’s Dover.

The dismissal of Davis also means players’ previous appearing out in the cold, like Henry Ochieng and Josh Koroma, may now be given opportunities.

All in all, the sacking of the 52-year-old should act as a kick up the backside to an O’s squad which has serious underachieved this season.

With the previous head coach now gone, there are no excuses for the players and despite the challenge of facing the leaders, they’ll need to play with no fear and step up to the plate.

Orient may be missing three vastly experienced members of their squad, but they should still have enough to achieve a positive result against high-flying Dover this afternoon.
