Leyton Orient have been handed a trip to Gillingham in the southern area semi-final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

The O’s won through to this stage thanks to a 2-0 win over Northampton Town on Tuesday, which came courtesy of goals from Jay Simpson and Marvin Bartley.

The tie will be the second time the O’s will make the trip to Priestfield in a matter of weeks with Orient heading to the Kent side for a league encounter.

The two sides met in the competition last season, with a Shaun Batt hat-trick helping the O’s to a 3-1 win in the opening round.

The game will be played the week beginning December 8.
