The two youngsters have frightened centre backs in the division all season, but more is still to come!

Leyton Orient forward Macauley Bonne has given defenders in the National League an ever scarier thought – his partnership with 19-year-old Josh Koroma is only just getting started!

The pair have helped lead Justin Edinburgh’s team to the top of the table with a great run of 13 games without defeat this season.

It broke the O’s previous best start to a league campaign which was an unbeaten run of 12 matches in the 2013/14 League One term.

Bonne has struck nine times already this season, and while Koroma has only scored on three occasions, the teenager has impressed with his mature displays and picked up numerous assists along the way.

When discussing the relationship between the pair, Orient’s top goalscorer said: “Josh is not naturally a centre forward, he is a winger, but the position he is playing in now helps him a lot.

“He can float in and out of the hole or run in behind and as we saw at Braintree Town defenders can’t live with him.

“I feel our partnership is one which will only continue to improve the more games we play together.”

Even though Bonne is relatively young, aged only 22, he feels he has a role to play in helping develop youngsters at the club like Koroma.

O’s have four players 20 or younger in their first-team squad, not including 16-year-old Shadrach Ogie, and bringing through talent from the under-18s has been ingrained into Orient’s history for a long time.

“I am young still, but I like to help the younger players coming through and as you can see at the moment, they are all pulling their weight, so we are happy with all of them,” Bonne said.

Boss Edinburgh is also delighted with his squad and the pride he felt was noticeable in his voice when discussing his players at Braintree on Tuesday night.

Although Orient’s 5-1 win over the Iron was their biggest in a competitive fixture since the 4-0 success at Newport County in League Two on March 4 2017, Bonne insists the group will continue to remain grounded.

He added: “We are taking it one game at a time now. We know Saturday (at home to Sutton United) will be a tough game, but as long as we play well and do what we are good at, it should go well for us.”
