Leyton Orient interim boss Kevin Nugent praised his side’s “professional” performance in the 2-0 midweek win over Doncaster, and he is after more of the same tomorrow at Port Vale.

The victory was Nugent’s first since taking over from Russell Slade and while admitting it was a big confidence boost to get up and running, he isn’t getting to carried away.

“The boys are showing fantastic spirit and belief, none more so then on Tuesday night with a very professional performance at Doncaster,” said Nugent.

“It is nice to get that first win under your belt and it is a nice confidence boost..

“But we are not getting too carried away. First and foremost you need to be hard to beat and at the moment we are doing that.

“It’s all about building up some confidence and momentum and hopefully we can continue that at Port Vale.”

The match-up at Vale Park is the clash of the two interim managers in the division – after Rob Page was appointed following Micky Adams’ resignation earlier in the season.

And while the O’s go into the game still unbeaten on their travels this term, Nugent is expecting a tough battle.

“We may have the confidence of not having lost away so far this season but we cannot be complacent,” added Nugent.

“We have got to put a lot of hard work in again to try and come away with the three points. There’s not a lot separating the two sides at the moment in terms of the table and we know we will be in for tough afternoon as they also need the three points desperately.”
