Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade insists it’s been a good week for the club with four points from a possible six on the road.

The O’s followed up the point picked up at Notts County with a 2-1 success at Scunthorpe United, thanks to goals from Scott Cuthbert and Jobi McAnuff.

And Slade is delighted with the response from his players following the disappointing 2-0 defeat last weekend to Colchester United.

“I think it’s a really good week for the club. There’s still an awful lot of work to do between now and end of the season,” said Slade.

“It’s four points from two games on the road so we have got to be pleased with that.”

Slade was particularly impressed with the amount of chances they created at Glanford Park, but knows they still have to be more ruthless in front of goal.

“I thought we created ample opportunities, that was the positive for me even though we left ourselves vulnerable just before half time and then in the closing stages they may have got one on the break,” he remarked.

“But the nice thing was we were positive and created chances all afternoon. They kept coming and that was capped with a great chance for Jay Simpson about five minutes to go. I was pleased with that side of the game.”

Having gone ahead, the O’s let their lead slip when Matt Sparrow finished off a move involving Paddy Madden and Gary McSheffrey, but Slade was pleased with the almost immediate response which came through Jobi McAnuff, who notched his first for the club.

“What was a really good sign was the fact we were dominating the game but then they get a goal a little on the counter attack and we’ve gone forward and within a couple of minutes we’ve gone back in front again,” added Slade.
