Justin Edinburgh heaped praise on his Leyton Orient team after they produced a fine display to win 3-0 at Harrogate Town in the National League last weekend.

Heading into the match, the two clubs were the only sides yet to lose in the division, but come the end of the 90 minutes, only O’s could boast an unbeaten record.

Macauley Bonne put Orient in front and two goals from captain Jobi McAnuff – one in each half – ensured the east Londoners come back to E10 with all three points.

Edinburgh spoke to the official club website, he said: “We are prepared to work extremely hard for each other in both boxes and in the midfield areas.

“Charlie Lee and Craig Clay went toe-to-toe with two really competitive players in the Harrogate team and no one gave an inch.

“We had to go right until the end because they asked questions of us, but we had the answers.”

Head coach Edinburgh revealed his delight at seeing his players take on board the advice from the coaching staff before the game.

The O’s had watched Harrogate and while they were aware of their threats, they had seen some weaknesses too.

For the opener, Orient took full advantage of one weakness, head coach Edinburgh explained: “We had shown the players some clips prior to the game.

“Because although Harrogate are a very good footballing team and they’ve controlled possession in the homes games we’ve watched, they do leave distance between the centre backs.

“When Macauley gets in those areas and one-on-one, as soon as it left his foot I knew it was in.”

Bonne’s opener occurred after Charlie Lee had been allowed to pick him out even though James Dayton had been fouled during the build-up to the goal.

It was 2-0 13 minutes after the first, with 36 on the clock, when Josh Koroma’s cross was saved and McAnuff tapped home.

Then after Bonne had cleared a shot off the line and Dean Brill had been forced into a top save, O’s wrapped up the win midway through the second period.

Koroma got forward well and cut back for McAnuff, who curled into the corner with 68 played to cap another great day for Orient.
