Ilford crashed out of the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy at the semi-final stage as they suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to FC Romania.

The Foxes will have to now turn all their attention back to the Essex Senior League after missing out on making it into the final thanks to two goals in each half for FCR at Cricklefield Stadium.

The visitors were two goals up after twenty minutes and it remained that way until the half-time break.

Two minutes into the second half the visitors added a third to virtually end the contest there and then, and gave the travelling support plenty to jump around and cheer about.

Ionut Vintila’s men then added a fourth to cap off a good performance and take their place in Easter Monday’s Final at Leslie Field against either Takeley, Hullbridge Sports or Clapton.

Ilford FC tweeted after the match: “Hats off to FC Romania, totally outplayed us and well worth the 4-0 win.

“We hope you go on to win the Trophy now.”
