Ilford had to settle for a point after being held in a goalless stalemate by Hoddesdon at Cricklefield Stadium.

Morgan Seaman impressed for the hosts, but the visitors went close when Connor Bolton’s shot was deflected behind and Harry Bushell then fired over.

Foxes duo Yemi Adelani and Lion Docai were off target at the other end, before Hugo Rosetti denied Bolton with a good save.

Adelani fired over just before the break and had another chance after the restart when Town keeper Aaron Bull came out of his box, but the striker was forced wide and his effort went out of play.

Kane Lowe wasted a pair of chances for the visitors around the hour mark, but Martin Haywood’s Ilford went closest to breaking the deadlock on 13 minutes when Bull tipped a header from one of his own defenders onto the crossbar.

Ilford: Rosetti, Casey, Perry, Kain, Haigh, Dzotsi, Seaman (Atim 36), Victorin (Olajide 80), Adelani, Maltese (Oyeleke 63), Docai. Unused sub: Nazor.

Neighbours Barkingside fell to a sixth successive league defeat to drop to the bottom of the table as they lost 4-1 to Stanway Rovers.

They were three goals down at the Hawthorns before Jacob Dingli hit back on the half-hour mark.

But the home side restored their comfortable cushion to leave Michael Walther’s men without a win in all nine league matches played to date and one point behind Tower Hamlets, following their win over Southend Manor, in last place.
