Essex Senior League: Barkingside, Ilford and Redbridge all suffer defeats

Barkingside continued their poor start to the season as they suffered a fifth straight defeat and are still searching for their first win of the season after ten games.

Side lost 5-0 to Leyton Athletic thanks to braces from Francesco Cicconi and Dwade James as well as a solo effort from Emmanuel Oluwole at Wadham Lodge Stadium.

Manager Michael Walther and his side will now have to dig deep as they sit at the foot of the table with a match against Tower Hamlets tomorrow evening.

Elsewhere, neighbours Redbridge suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to league leaders Hullbridge Sports.

Nathan Scarborough netting the all important decider for Darren Manning’s side to seal them the three points.

Ilford also lost 1-0 to Walthamstow as former striker James Peagram came back to haunt them as he guided his side to victory.

Peagram netted in the first-half after being picked out at the back post by partner Billy Jones.
