Substitute scores in 86th minute for share of the spoils

Daniel Charge grabbed a late equaliser for Redbridge to give his side a share of the Ryman One North spoils at Heybridge Swifts last night (Tuesday).

Manager Dave Ross, however, thought in some ways that his side had played better when they opened their campaign at home with a 3-1 loss to Harlow Town on Saturday.

“To be fair to Heybridge, I thought that over the 90 minutes we could consider ourselves thankful to get a point,” he said.

“I thought we played quite well at times in Saturday’s defeat, I didn’t see much improvement tonight really.

“I changed things a bit for the last 30 minutes or so after bringing on Danny Charge,” explained the manager.

“We took the game to them a bit more and with a double-substitution about 15 minutes later we were just getting on top when we nicked an equaliser.”
