Daggers defender Luke Wilkinson has agreed an initial one-year deal to join with League Two rivals Luton Town for an undisclosed fee.
Wilkinson, the 2013 Player of the Year has been on the transfer list at his own request for the past month having found it difficult to break into the first team last season due to injury, poor form and the emergence of Ian Gayle.
And while it had been a quiet opening few weeks for the 22-year-old while on the transfer list, it’s hotted up recently with three clubs chasing his services.
But it’s Luton and former Daggers boss John Still that have won the contest for Wilkinson. and he will now link up with the Hatters on their pre-season tour to Portugal later today.
It is no surprise that Wilkinson chose to move to Kenilworth Road considering his own rise to prominence at the Daggers under Still, who brought the central defender to the Victoria Road club following his release from Portsmouth.
Wilkinson could feature for his new side against the Daggers when they meet at Kenilworth Road on October 21, while the reverse fixture is on April 14.
