Daggers defender Ian Gayle is set to sign a new contract with the club according to boss Wayne Burnett.
The 23-year-old impressed when called upon in the latter stages of the season, having made his debut off the bench at Wycombe Wanderers following Scott Doe’s sending off.
And the former Grays Athletic loanee is now set to extend his stay with the club, and compete with Doe, Brian Saah and potentially Luke Wilkinson – if he fails to secure a move away, next season
“We’ve got no issue with Ian Gayle and he’s signing a new contract,” said Burnett.
“He was a massive positive for us at the end of last season and hopefully he can challenge again next season.”
But there is no further word on Zavon Hines and Gavin Hoyte, who also have deals on the table to stay with the Daggers.
Hines has been away in the United States continuing his recovery from the knee ligament injury which ruled him out for the rest of the 2013/14 season back in March, while Hoyte is currently away on international duty with Trinidad & Tobago.
And Burnett admits there may be a time where the Daggers have to put other plans in place if the duo continue to ponder their futures.
“With Zavon Hines and Gavin Hoyte we have not heard anything yet and I am not aware of anything being sorted,” he added.
“We are always putting other plans in place and there will be a cut-off where we will need a decision by.
“We don’t want to be holding on and waiting too long as we have got to do what is right for this football club.
“They may want to keep their options open which they are entitled to do but we may have to look elsewhere.”
