Gateshead manager Steve Watson feels that was a much better performance from his side that in recent weeks at home as they sealed a 2-0 win against Dagenham & Redbridge.

Goals from Steve Rigg and Tom White sealed the three points for the Heed at Gateshead International Stadium.

“It was just a much better home performance, we have worked all week on what we knew we were lacking in the previous two home games, which was speed of play, getting the ball down on free-kicks and dead balls, and then moving it quickly.

“Being positive and brave on the ball, we worked on it through the back third, as what we thought would happen did happen.

“We looked up and there was a bank of five and bank of four to try and get through early in the game.

“I thought we did that well, moved it well and we had midfielders getting into the box.

“We were probably unlucky not to have had four or five.”
