Daggers refreshed for Burton Albion trip

Daggers boss Wayne Burnett feels the extra half an hour played on Tuesday night in the Capital One Cup loss to Brentford will not have an affect on his side when they travel to face Burton Albion tomorrow.

The Victoria Road side pushed the Championship outfit all the way in an incredible 6-6 draw, before losing out 4-2 on penalties.

And because of Tuesday’s events, Burnett revealed a change had been made to their usual training routine.

“We only had a light session on Thursday,” said Burnett. “We are well aware of the exertions the boys went through on Tuesday night and made a change to the way we trained.

“It was disappointing to lose out in the end on Tuesday, but the boys have put that behind them now and they will be ready for Saturday.”

The only absentees for Burnett going into tomorrow’s game is the long-term injuries to striker Rhys Murphy (hip) and Zavon Hines (knee), while the game comes too soon for Billy Bingham (shins).

New signing Christian Doidge will also miss out has yet as the Daggers wait for international clearance on the former Carmarthen Town striker.

And boss Burnett is wary of the Brewers, who have started the season with a 1-0 win over Oxford United, and a shock win in the League Cup against Championship Wigan Athletic.

“Burton have started the season very well and have got two good results,” added Burnett.

“You don’t get in the play-offs two seasons on a trot for being a bad side so we know we are in for a tough encounter. They’ve added well to the squad so I am sure it’ll be a good competitive game at the weekend.”
