Dagenham & Redbridge manager Wayne Burnett is keen to pursue a deal for Carmarthen Town striker Christian Doidge.
The 21-year-old striker has looked promising for the Daggers, scoring two goals in three pre-season outings for the club.
And boss Burnett will continue to monitor Doidge as they look at the possibility of signing the forward.
“Christian has done very well. He’s still only young, people don’t actually realise he is 21,” said Burnett.
“He has got a very good work ethic and he came in and did all right. We are going to keep monitoring him and we’ll see where we go from there.”
If the Daggers were to sign Doidge they would have to pay a fee, with the striker under contract with the Welsh side, while there would also be international clearance to sort out.
Burnett believes his side still needs one or two new faces though before the League Two season starts on Saturday against Morecambe.
One of them is likely to be George Porter after the winger appeared at the club’s open day yesterday, and was happily taking photos with the Daggers supporters who were in attendance.
If he can’t manage to get in the other targets he wishes, Burnett may also look at the loan market.
“I still think we need to add one or two. If we can do that we’ll be fine,” added Burnett.
“I think the loan market may be needed. We’ll dip into that at some point if we can’t get the ones that we have been going after.”
