Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder Luke Howell expects another tough test against National League leaders Dover Athletic.

Daggers host the high-flyers at Victoria Road this evening (7.45pm) as they look to get back on a winning run and make it two consecutive wins.

“It will be a tough game, but (Guiseley) was tough and I think every game is tough in this league and you’re never going to get an easy ride,” Howell said.

“They’re in good-form, they’re top of the league so it will be just another game, but at home we definitely feel like we can go in and win that game.”

The 30-year-old expects Dover to be a strong, physical outfit like they are every season, and believes they’ll have to match them to get a result.

“They’ve been in this league for a couple of years, so obviously I’ve played against them and know they’re always strong and physical and they always work hard, so we’ll have to match that first and foremost.

“Then hopefully we can create a goal or two to get the win.”

The former Boreham Wood midfielder will come against two of his former Daggers team-mates in Josh Passley and Femi Ilesanmi and he is excited to see the pair of defenders.

Passley spent one season at the club in 2015/16, making 38 appearances, before leaving the club in the summer of 2016.

The right-back then had a brief spell at National League South outfit Whitehawk before joining the Kent-based outfit this summer.

While, Ilesanmi spent four seasons in the red and blue, making 117 appearances for the east London club, scoring one goal in his time.

He has since spent time at York City and Boreham Wood before joining Dover in the summer as well as Passley.

“Definitely, I haven’t seen either of them in a while so it’s good to see them both, but when we play Femi will be the same everyone is out there for the win.

“We’ll be friends before and after though.”
