Dagenham & Redbridge are now winless in five matches after having to settle for a share of the spoils with a 0-0 draw against Leyton Orient.

An end-to-end National League encounter finished goalless with neither side earning the east London bragging rights on New Years Day.

Assistant manager Darren Currie admits they’re disappointed not to get three points but was pleased with the player’s performance after some poor form in recent weeks.

“Naturally it’s a concern, but the performances have been a bigger concern, not that they’ve been a million miles away but certainly in the last two games that’s how we feel we should be playing, loads of action, loads of endeavour and we’ve just lacked a little bit in the final third to win the game.”

Currie revealed they will be disappointed at missing a few golden opportunities but also pleased they managed to keep the O’s out at the other end of the pitch.

“It was quite an even exciting 0-0 weren’t it,” he said.

“As a result it’s not ideal, we wanted a win there’s no doubt about it, but certainly the performance at Ebbsfleet and against Orient is a bit more like what we expect from our team.

“I think the two obvious clear cut chances were Mason Bloomfield’s header in the first half and Faye’s (Fejiri Okenabirhie) opportunity late on with the cut back.

“They’re the two we’ll look at and go they could have won us the game, but at the other end, they probably thought they scored but Mark Cousins pulled off a world class save, it was an absolutely brilliant save.”

It was the second time the sides came to a head in a week as the Daggers fell to a 2-0 defeat at Brisbane Road on Boxing Day.

“I felt at Orient on Boxing Day we done ok, we was happy with how we performed, but a bad ten minute spell in the second-half cost us.

“It is a natural concern we haven’t won in five, but certainly with the performances, it isn’t going to be long until we win a football match.”
