Frew blasts his players in dressing room

“It was the worst performance since I’ve been manager here,” blasted a very dejected Barkingside boss Matt Frew.

Barkingside were brought crashing back to earth in Bromley last night, on the wrong end of a 4-2 scoreline against Cray Wanderers.

Buzzing from their 4-2 home win over Brentwood at the weekend, Side took the lead after 10 minutes when John Bricknell struck.

However, that was totally against the run of play as Frew explained: “We were on the back foot as they had chance after chance. We scored totally against the run of play.

“We’re sitting mid-table on six points and we should have won that match,” he bemoaned, “but they just wanted it more than us.

“They were right up for it and deserved it, as I told their manager after the game.

The boss made his thoughts very clear to his players after the game. “It wasn’t very pleasant in that dressing room as you can imagine,” he said.

“It wasn’t pretty what I had to say, and not for publication, but I told them it was just not acceptable. Too many of them were off their game. We’ve taken a backward step and I hope it was just a blip,” he added.

“We’ll regroup in training on Thursday and I hope, really hope I can get this out of my system.

“I’ve tried since the end of the match, but I’ve not been able to as of yet,” he added.
